Molecules, Minerals, Matter
Congratulations to Jane Foale (Level 2 Yr 3) with her new show opening next week at Cliffe Castle, Keighley. Sponsored by Winsor and Newton, the Arts Council and Bradford Council the show will run for six months. For opening times and information go to : http://www.bradfordmuseums.org/cliffecastle/visitor.htm.
Jane’s work is an intervention within the outstanding mineralogy displays at the Museum. It explores analogies between the behaviour of paint pigments and the process of mineralisation in the earth’s crust. Her practice rests on a physical and emotional engagement with materials, processes and a very particular landscape.
Cliffe Castle Museum in Keighley, where the collections research and resulting intervention have taken place, houses the natural science collections of the Bradford District. In choosing to research as an artist in the museum she has opened up a new avenue of enquiry into, and interpretation for, the natural science collections.
Bradford Museums, Galleries and Heritage continue to invite artists in to work with the collections and develop exhibitions in this way.
Student in FRED - an art invasion of Cumbria
FRED - the annual art invasion of Cumbria is happening again this year. From the 28th September - 14th October, artists from around the globe will be creating new work in some of England's most spectacular landscapes in what has become Europe's largest annual festival of site-specific art. Congratulations to Jenni Danson (Level 3 Yr 6) who will be taking part in the festival with Monumental?, a knitted cosy for a statue of James Steel in Carlisle city centre.
